Youth Programme

Arrangement have been made by the Training, Education and Communication Unit of the Savisthri Organization to inaugurate a programme for the youth based on the magazine "Sisara" with the participation of the youth in the Six Districts viz :- Galle, Matara, Anuradhapura, Matale, Monaragala and NuwaraEliya.
The inaugural programme was held in the District of Matale with the participation of the children of the Savisthri members in the Yatawatta Divisional secretaries Division and the other youth on 31.08.2006 from 1500 hrs.-2000hrs. The participants were divided into groups according to their ages. Those under the age of 13years were categorized as a group consisting of school children and the rest formed the other group.
The planning of work programmes by the members of the two groups themselves was a matter of significance. Accordingly the programmes were formulated under the following 4 main sectors :-

i. Improvement of the knowledge through the educational dialogue unit inaugurated on the basis of the "Sisara magazine". Under this a library has been inaugurated. Collection of books for this library has been done by the members of the Savisthri groups.

ii. Facilitation for the launching of the cultural skills of the youth in the area.

iii.Improvement of sports skills.

iv.Reference to income generating avenues.
Out of the 4 sectors mentioned above, as the first activity it is necessary to improve the knowledge through the library and get computer literacy and a basic knowledge of the English Language.
Getting the assistance of all the members of the Savisthri Mini Bank Societies and the others in the relevant Districts, to the youth and building a cordial relationship amongst the groups could be considered as a success.
